SPRY

This bas relief in Portland stone was for a friend who owns a holiday house in Tewkesbury on the Severn River.

The Spry was a sailing barge that carried stone and other heavy cargo along the river, going upstream as far as Ironbridge . She is shown in the centre, the iron bridge on the right and Tewkesbury Abbey on the left, all framed by her own transom.
